The Deputy Excise and Taxation Commissioner, SGST, Gurugram (East) issued an order on December 30, 2025 against Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited (ABFRL). The order in Form DRC-07 raises a total demand of ₹13,28,70,873, comprising tax of ₹7.05 crore, interest of ₹5.52 crore, and penalty of ₹71.54 lakh. The demand arose from GST audit proceedings covering issues such as input tax credit (ITC) on imports, place of supply mismatches, ITC on credit notes, and outward liability declared in GSTR-1. ABFRL received the order on December 31, 2025 and states that it believes the demand is not legally tenable and intends to file an appeal before the Appellate Authority.
ABFRL has stated there is no material impact on its financials or operations from this order, and it plans to contest the demand in appeal. The ₹13.29 crore demand, if ultimately upheld after appeals, could be a minor financial headwind, but the company's stance is that the order is not justified in law.
