AI Champdany Industries, a Kolkata-based jute and flax textile company established in 1873, reported its FY25 audited results with a clean (unmodified) audit opinion from G. Basu & Co. Revenue from operations more than doubled to ₹9,021.84 lacs in FY25 from ₹4,427.25 lacs in FY24, a growth of about 104%, driven mainly by the Jute/Jute Diversified Products segment. The company still reported a net loss of ₹4,503.19 lacs, though this is an improvement from the ₹6,254.03 lacs loss in FY24. Before exceptional items, the loss was ₹2,075.39 lacs, slightly wider than ₹2,026.18 lacs last year. The company disclosed a fire at its Wellington Jute Mill on 21 November 2024 that damaged machinery, buildings and inventories, and three older units remain suspended due to labour unrest. Operating cash flow was negative in FY25. The board approved the 107th AGM for 25 August 2025, appointment of a new independent director, reappointment of an existing one, and reappointment of the secretarial auditor.
The strong revenue rebound is encouraging for shareholders, but the company remains loss-making with negative operating cash flow, so recovery to profitability is not yet confirmed. Investors should watch the impact of the mill fire, the prolonged unit suspensions, and progress on the proposed ₹21 crore property sale aimed at improving liquidity.
