Akums Drugs and Pharmaceuticals reported FY26 standalone revenue of ₹13,487 million, up just 2.8% from ₹13,118 million in FY25. Profit after tax fell sharply to ₹1,116 million from ₹1,610 million — a decline of about 31% year-on-year. EBITDA margin compressed significantly to ~10% from ~14.5% previously. The company recognized ₹65.19 million in exceptional items comprising ₹52.32 million for changes under new labour codes and ₹12.87 million for retrospective VDA arrears. Auditors Walker Chandiok & Co. LLP issued an unmodified opinion but included an Emphasis of Matter regarding an Income Tax Department search and seizure operation conducted in January 2025; the company has received show cause notices and the financial impact remains unascertained. The board recommended a final dividend of ₹1 and a special dividend of ₹2 per share.
The sharp PAT decline and margin compression are concerning signals despite flat revenue growth. The ongoing Income Tax Department proceedings add regulatory uncertainty. The dividend payout provides some investor comfort.
