Akums Drugs and Pharmaceuticals reported standalone revenue from operations of Rs 13,487.36 million for FY2026, a modest increase of about 2.8% from Rs 13,117.84 million in FY2025. However, profit after tax declined significantly by 30.7% to Rs 1,116.40 million from Rs 1,609.98 million, indicating margin compression despite stable revenue growth. The company recognized exceptional items of Rs 65.19 million for the year, comprising Rs 52.32 million for impact of new labour codes and Rs 12.87 million for retrospective VDA arrears. The board recommended a final dividend of Rs 1 per share plus a special dividend of Rs 2 per share. The statutory auditor Walker Chandiok & Co. LLP issued an unmodified opinion but included an Emphasis of Matter paragraph regarding an Income Tax Department search and seizure operation conducted in January 2025 and subsequent show cause notices received in May 2026, where the impact remains not ascertainable. Current borrowings increased sharply from Rs 39.30 million to Rs 1,355.2 million.
The 30.7% decline in profit despite marginal revenue growth signals operational margin pressure. The unresolved Income Tax search proceedings and show cause notices represent a regulatory risk factor. Higher borrowing levels also indicate increased financial leverage.
