On the reaction day the stock moved 0.9 pts more than Nifty Midcap 150 and 0.5 pts more than its Pharmaceuticals peers, over the same two closes: a difference in percentage points, not a measure of what the filing did.

Alkem Laboratories has received an appeal order from the GST Appellate Authority in Panchkula, Haryana, for the period July 2017–2018 to 2020–2021. The order has confirmed a GST demand of about Rs. 23.4 lakhs along with an equal amount as interest and penalty, taking the total potential outflow to roughly Rs. 46.8 lakhs plus interest. The dispute relates to the alleged non-reversal of common Input Tax Credit (ITC) attributable to exempt supplies. The company has stated it does not agree with the order and is in the process of filing a further appeal. Alkem has clarified there is no material impact on its financial or operational activities from this order.
The demand is small relative to Alkem's size, and the company is contesting it, so the financial hit is likely limited. Shareholders are unlikely to see a meaningful stock reaction unless the matter escalates materially in future rounds of litigation.
