Ambalal Sarabhai Enterprises reported a consolidated loss of Rs. 56.03 lakhs in Q2 FY26, swinging from a profit of Rs. 261.99 lakhs in the same quarter last year. Revenue from operations stood at Rs. 4,444.92 lakhs (vs Rs. 4,470.41 lakhs YoY), roughly flat. For H1 FY26, consolidated PAT jumped to Rs. 766.32 lakhs from Rs. 296.70 lakhs, but this was largely inflated by a one-time 'provision no longer required' of Rs. 664.64 lakhs booked under other income in Q1. The Pharmaceuticals segment swung to a loss of Rs. 121.14 lakhs at the segment level (vs profit of Rs. 252.37 lakhs YoY), while Electronics improved marginally. Standalone results showed a Q2 loss of Rs. 38.24 lakhs. Auditor (Sorab S. Engineer & Co.) issued an unqualified review report. Consolidated operating cash flow turned positive at Rs. 1,084.64 lakhs vs outflow last year, but standalone operations remained cash-negative at Rs. -197.34 lakhs.
Core operating performance weakened sharply in Q2, especially in the Pharmaceuticals segment which slipped into a loss, suggesting margin pressure on the main business. The headline H1 profit growth is misleading as it depends heavily on a non-recurring write-back; shareholders should focus on the deterioration in Q2 underlying earnings as a warning signal.
