Ambuja Cements has received an order from the Commissioner of Central Excise & CGST, Bhavnagar, disallowing Cenvat Credit (Input Tax Credit) of approximately Rs. 21.96 crore on certain services such as business auxiliary, maintenance, manpower recruitment, and port-related services at Muldwaraka. Along with interest, the order also imposes a penalty of an equal amount (Rs. 21.96 crore), bringing the total potential outflow to roughly Rs. 44 crore plus interest. The company has stated it will file an appeal before the competent appellate authority. The order was received on 25th September 2025.
The company expects no material impact on its financial or operational activities and plans to contest the order, but if the appeal fails the combined demand and penalty of around Rs. 44 crore plus interest could be a hit to earnings.
