SEBI's Adjudicating Officer has imposed a consolidated monetary penalty of Rs. 10,00,000 (Rs. 10 lakhs) on Anand Rathi Share and Stock Brokers for non-compliance with the Cyber Security & Cyber Resilience Framework and the SEBI (Stock Brokers) Regulations, 1992. The violations were identified during a SEBI inspection covering the period April 1, 2023 to August 31, 2024, and cover multiple operational and cyber security gaps including business continuity planning, password controls, data leakage prevention, vulnerability assessment, API security, monitoring, and KYC validation of clients. The order was passed on March 13, 2026 and the penalty must be paid from the company's settlement account within 45 days.
The penalty of Rs. 10 lakhs is small relative to a stock broker's operations and is unlikely to materially affect financials, but the multiple cyber security and compliance gaps highlighted could raise concerns about the firm's internal controls and may invite closer regulatory scrutiny going forward.
