Asian Paints' board has recommended a final dividend of Rs. 20.55 per share for FY25, taking the total dividend for the year to Rs. 24.80 per share (including Rs. 4.25 interim dividend already paid in November 2024). The record date for eligibility is fixed as 10th June 2025, with payment on or after 30th June 2025, subject to shareholder approval at the AGM on 26th June 2025. Audited standalone results show total income falling to Rs. 30,322.8 crores from Rs. 32,048.9 crores, with net profit declining sharply to Rs. 3,584.9 crores from Rs. 5,315.0 crores, and EPS dropping to Rs. 37.39 from Rs. 55.43. Consolidated profit fell to Rs. 3,709.7 crores from Rs. 5,557.7 crores. Q4 standalone results included an exceptional charge of Rs. 179.8 crores, mainly an impairment of Rs. 101.3 crores in subsidiary White Teak and a Rs. 78.5 crore fair-value loss on related derivative contracts.
While the dividend declaration offers some support to shareholders, the steep decline in profits (around 32-33% YoY) and the one-off impairment in a subsidiary signal weak operational performance and may weigh on short-term investor sentiment. Shareholders should watch the upcoming investor call and AGM for management commentary on demand recovery and margin outlook.
