Aurobindo Pharma is launching a buyback of up to 54.23 lakh equity shares (approximately 0.93% of total outstanding shares) at ₹1,475 per share in cash. The total buyback size is capped at ₹800 crore, representing 3.93% and 2.62% of the company's standalone and consolidated net worth respectively as of March 31, 2025. The buyback will be conducted via the tender offer route through BSE. Small shareholders holding shares worth up to ₹2 lakh get preferential treatment with an entitlement ratio of 7 shares per 61 held, while general category shareholders get 2 shares per 249 held. The record date was April 17, 2026, with the offer opening on April 23 and closing on April 29, 2026. Settlement will be completed by May 7, 2026.
The buyback signals management confidence in the company's intrinsic value, as buying shares at ₹1,475 each returns capital to shareholders. The small portion (under 1% of shares) and within-statutory limits (under 10% of net worth) suggests a measured capital allocation. Eligible shareholders can tender their shares for cash at a fixed price during the offer window.
