Balrampur Chini Mills Board approved raising Rs. 450 crore through preferential issue of 93.16 lakh equity shares at Rs. 483 per share (including Rs. 482 premium). Promoters (Vivek Saraogi, Sumedha Saraogi, Meenakshi Mercantiles) are subscribing for Rs. 192.99 crore worth of shares, while institutional investors including Tata Small Cap Fund, ICICI Prudential funds, Ikigai, Alchemy, and 360 One are taking the remaining Rs. 257 crore. Separately, the company will issue listed, secured NCDs up to Rs. 200 crore on private placement. The PLA project cost has been revised upward by Rs. 230 crore to Rs. 3,080 crore due to higher construction material prices and supply chain disruptions. A new lactogypsum processing plant will be set up at Kumbhi, UP at Rs. 160 crore, to be partly funded from preferential issue proceeds.
The equity raise and NCD issuance will fund expansion into bioplastics (PLA) and gypsum processing, with promoter participation signaling confidence. The capex increase for PLA reflects input cost pressures. Shareholders will vote on the preferential issue at EGM on May 20, 2026.
