Bata India Limited reported audited standalone financial results for FY ended March 2026. Total income was Rs. 35,940 million, relatively flat compared to Rs. 35,550 million in FY25. Profit after tax declined sharply to Rs. 1,336 million from Rs. 3,284 million in FY25, a drop of about 59%, primarily due to lower exceptional items (FY25 included Rs. 1,333 million gain from land sale, while FY26 had Rs. 490 million in VRS and labour code charges). The auditors issued an unmodified (clean) opinion. The Board recommended a dividend of Rs. 9 per share (180%) for FY26, same as the previous year. The 93rd AGM is scheduled for August 12, 2026.
The steep profit decline despite stable revenues is concerning. The stock may face negative sentiment due to the 59% drop in net profit, though the unchanged dividend and clean audit provide some comfort. Excluding one-time items, underlying profitability was more stable.
