Bata India reported FY2026 standalone revenue of Rs 35,155 million, up marginally by 0.9% from Rs 34,850 million in FY2025. However, profit after tax fell sharply to Rs 1,336 million from Rs 3,284 million in the previous year, a decline of approximately 59%. EPS dropped to Rs 10.39 from Rs 25.55. The company recognized exceptional items totaling Rs 142.50 million, comprising VRS expenses (Rs 107.84 million) and labour code impact (Rs 66.66 million partially offset). Auditors issued an unmodified opinion with no qualifications. The Board recommended dividend of Rs 9 per share (180%), consistent with prior year, payable from August 27, 2026.
The steep profit decline despite flat revenue signals cost pressure and operational challenges. Shareholders may see negative stock reaction as PAT dropped nearly 60%, though the unchanged dividend provides some support.
