Bengal Steel Industries reported Q1 FY26 standalone revenue from operations of Rs. 15.00 lakhs, up 25% from Rs. 12.00 lakhs in Q1 FY25. The company swung to a net profit of Rs. 5.57 lakhs from a loss of Rs. 8.91 lakhs in the same quarter last year, driven mainly by a sharp drop in 'other expenses' from Rs. 18.75 lakhs to Rs. 6.02 lakhs. Standalone EPS turned positive at Rs. 0.11 versus Rs. (0.18) earlier. Consolidated results were broadly similar with net profit of Rs. 5.45 lakhs versus a loss of Rs. 9.13 lakhs, and include its subsidiary Tamil Nadu Alkaline Batteries Limited. Statutory auditor S. Ghose & Co LLP issued an unmodified (clean) limited review report on both sets of results.
The return to profitability and 25% revenue growth signal a clear operational improvement for shareholders, though the absolute revenue base remains very small (Rs. 15 lakhs). The turnaround is largely cost-driven rather than volume-driven, so investors should watch whether the lower expense level is sustainable in coming quarters.
