Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) reported standalone revenue from operations of Rs. 4,416.83 crore for Q1 FY2025-26, up 5.19% YoY from Rs. 4,198.77 crore in Q1 FY2024-25. Profit Before Tax grew 24.28% YoY to Rs. 1,289.24 crore, and Profit After Tax rose 24.87% YoY to Rs. 969.13 crore (vs Rs. 776.14 crore a year ago). Profit growth was driven by significant margin expansion, as total expenses actually fell slightly YoY despite higher revenue. EPS stood at Rs. 1.33 versus Rs. 1.06 in the year-ago quarter. The company's order book stood strong at Rs. 74,859 crore as of July 1, 2025, providing multi-year revenue visibility. The Board had also recommended a final dividend of 90% (Rs. 0.90 per share) for FY 2024-25, in addition to an interim dividend of 150% already paid. Statutory auditor Rao & Emmar issued an unmodified (clean) limited review report on the results.
Strong profit growth and margin expansion, supported by a robust Rs. 74,859 crore order book, are positives for shareholders. Modest 5% revenue growth is the only soft spot, but improved profitability per rupee of revenue should support the stock.
