On the reaction day the stock moved 0.9 pts more than Nifty 100 and 0.3 pts more than its Refineries & Marketing peers, over the same two closes: a difference in percentage points, not a measure of what the filing did.
Minute windows have no benchmark: there is no intraday index history to compare against.
BSE and NSE have each levied a fine of Rs 14,66,740 on BPCL, totalling about Rs 29.3 lakh, for 91 days of non-compliance with SEBI listing rules on board composition and key committees (audit, nomination and remuneration, stakeholder relationship, risk management). The reason: tenure of Independent Directors ended in March 2026 and BPCL, being a Government company, is waiting for fresh nominations from the Government of India to reconstitute its board. BPCL says there is no material financial impact and will approach the exchanges for a waiver of the fines.
Minor fines with no effect on operations or financials; procedural issue pending Government of India appointments.
