On the reaction day the stock moved 0.7 pts more than Nifty 100 and 0.7 pts more than its Refineries & Marketing peers, over the same two closes: a difference in percentage points, not a measure of what the filing did.
Minute windows have no benchmark: there is no intraday index history to compare against.
BPCL reported Q1 FY27 (Apr-Jun 2026) with GRM soaring to $41.41/bbl from $4.88/bbl YoY and marketing inventory gain of Rs 3,134 cr against an Rs 835 cr loss last year. Despite this, the company swung to a net loss of Rs 3,962 cr versus an Rs 6,124 cr profit YoY. Loss before tax was Rs 5,305 cr. Refinery throughput fell to 10.15 MMT, while total sales rose to 14.13 MMT. Debt rose sharply to Rs 17,396 cr from Rs 10,709 cr.
Strong GRM and inventory gains are positive, but the net loss swing and rising debt are red flags. Investors will seek clarity on loss drivers.
