BPCL has reported audited standalone net profit of Rs 23,303.22 Crore for FY2025-26, a significant jump of 75.5% versus Rs 13,275.26 Crore in the prior year. Revenue from operations grew 4.5% to Rs 5,22,668.25 Crore. EPS stands at Rs 54.54 per share. The company recorded an exceptional impairment charge of Rs 4,349.13 Crore on its upstream subsidiary Bharat Petro Resources Ltd (BPRL) due to deteriorating block prospects, reducing accumulated impairment to Rs 11,313.83 Crore. EBITDA margin expanded to 6.07% from 3.27% year-on-year. The auditors issued an unmodified opinion on the financials. A governance non-compliance is noted: the company lacked adequate independent directors and a woman director from March 2026, preventing formation of mandatory board committees.
The strong 75% PAT growth reflects higher profitability despite impairment charges, signalling operational efficiency improvement. However, the Rs 4,349 Crore impairment on BPRL raises concerns about upstream investment value. The governance non-compliance may attract regulatory scrutiny from SEBI.
