BHEL received an adjudication order dated 31.12.2025 from the Assistant Commissioner (ST), Commercial Tax Department, Telangana, related to a GST demand raised for FY 2021-22. The original demand was Rs. 184.55 Cr on account of export of goods beyond the prescribed time period. The Adjudicating Authority ruled largely in favour of BHEL, dropping Rs. 183.77 Cr of the demand along with associated interest and penalty. Only a small balance demand of Rs. 1.43 Cr (comprising Rs. 0.78 Cr demand, Rs. 0.58 Cr interest, and Rs. 0.07 Cr penalty) remains, which BHEL plans to appeal before the Appellate Authorities.
Positive for shareholders — the vast majority of the tax demand has been set aside, and the residual Rs. 1.43 Cr is immaterial relative to BHEL's overall scale. The pending appeal is unlikely to have any meaningful impact on the stock.
