Birla Cable Limited reported a sharp fall in profits for FY25 despite a modest dip in revenue. Standalone revenue from operations declined to ₹66,165.23 lakhs from ₹68,549.80 lakhs in FY24 (down about 3.5%), while net profit crashed to ₹503.11 lakhs from ₹2,248.75 lakhs (down roughly 77.6%). Profit before tax fell to ₹683.56 lakhs from ₹3,013.10 lakhs, indicating significant margin compression even though revenue barely moved. For Q4 FY25, net profit was nearly flat at ₹145.07 lakhs versus ₹146.47 lakhs in Q4 FY24. The board has not recommended any dividend for FY25, citing the need to conserve cash for future business needs. On the balance sheet, total borrowings came down meaningfully, and operating cash flow was robust at ₹11,240.13 lakhs. Statutory auditors V. Sankar Aiyar & Co. issued an unmodified (clean) opinion on both standalone and consolidated results.
Shareholders face a steep earnings drop and no dividend this year, which is negative for income investors, but debt reduction and strong cash generation offer some comfort. The heavy profit fall despite small revenue decline points to cost pressure and weak margins, which is likely to weigh on near-term sentiment.
