Bombay Burmah Trading Corp told exchanges that the Supreme Court has allowed its application and recalled observations from its May 29, 2026 order. Those observations had recorded that Rs 4,655 crore in lease rent remained to be recovered from BBTC regarding its erstwhile Singampatti tea estate in Tamil Nadu. The Court noted the amount was never formally demanded or heard. The civil appeals do not relate to lease rent. The recall removes a major adverse overhang.
Positive for shareholders. Removes the overhang of a potential Rs 4,655 crore lease rent liability being recorded against BBTC.
