On the reaction day the stock moved 0.3 pts less than Nifty 100 and in line with its Public Sector Bank peers, over the same two closes: a difference in percentage points, not a measure of what the filing did.
Minute windows have no benchmark: there is no intraday index history to compare against.
Canara Bank has received RBI approval to exercise the call option on two Basel III Additional Tier 1 perpetual bonds totaling Rs 1,755 crore. This includes a Rs 1,635 crore bond at 8.50 percent coupon maturing on 31 December 2025 and a Rs 120 crore bond at 8.30 percent coupon maturing on 2 February 2026. The bank will redeem these perpetual bonds on the scheduled call dates, effectively removing the perpetual high-coupon obligation from its books.
Positive: signals capital strength and RBI confidence. Removes high-coupon perpetual obligation, likely boosting future earnings. AT1 bondholders stop receiving interest.
