Canara Bank's Board on May 8, 2025 approved audited standalone and consolidated results for Q4 and FY25, and recommended a final dividend of Rs. 4 per equity share (200%) on face value of Rs. 2, subject to shareholder approval at the AGM. Standalone net profit for FY25 rose to Rs. 17,026.67 crore from Rs. 14,554.33 crore in FY24, up about 17%, while total income grew to Rs. 1,42,207.87 crore from Rs. 1,27,654.37 crore. Asset quality improved sharply with Gross NPA falling to 2.94% (from 4.23%) and Net NPA to 0.70% (from 1.27%). The bank also executed a 5:1 stock split during the year, reducing face value from Rs. 10 to Rs. 2 per share.
The combination of solid profit growth, significantly cleaner balance sheet, a 200% dividend, and the recent stock split is a positive signal for shareholders and should support investor sentiment. However, the dividend remains subject to approval at the upcoming AGM.
