Canara Bank reported standalone net profit of ₹19,186.67 crore for FY2025-26, up 12.7% from ₹17,026.67 crore in the prior year. Total income grew 7.7% to ₹1,53,204 crore. Gross NPA improved sharply to 1.84% (from 2.94% a year ago) and Net NPA to 0.43% (from 0.70%). Provision Coverage Ratio stands at a healthy 94.21%. CET-1 ratio strengthened to 17.04%. The Board recommended a dividend of ₹4.20 per share (210%). The bank also completed IPO exits from its life insurance and asset management subsidiaries (now associates), generating ₹1,929.56 crore standalone pre-tax profit. Deposits grew to ₹15,69,678 crore and advances to ₹12,20,017 crore.
Strong NPA reduction, improving capital ratios, and double-digit profit growth are positives. However, the sequential Q4 profit declined versus Q3 (₹4,505 crore vs ₹5,155 crore), and margin compression is visible — operating margin fell from 22.1% to 21.5% year-on-year. The bank continues to benefit from asset quality improvements.
