Goldman Sachs Asset Management International (GSAMI), along with three PAC entities, sold 1,187,622 equity shares of CarTrade Tech (about 2.5% of the capital) on 10 October 2025 through a block deal on the NSE. Of this, 825,995 shares (1.74%) were sold in multiple tranches between October 2024 and October 2025, while 361,627 shares (0.76%) were sold on the single day of 10 October 2025. As a result, GSAMI's combined holding dropped from 7.193% (3,395,611 shares) to 4.650% (2,207,989 shares), taking the entity below the 5% substantial shareholder threshold. GSAMI is not part of the promoter/promoter group of the company. The company's total share capital also increased slightly during this period due to fresh share issuances, further diluting GSAMI's stake.
A major foreign institutional investor (FII) has meaningfully cut its position and is no longer a substantial shareholder, which could be perceived negatively by the market in the short term due to reduced FII ownership. However, the sale was executed via an orderly block deal, minimising market disruption, and Indian retail and domestic institutional interest in the stock remains intact.
