CDSL has provided an update on an arbitration proceeding initiated by Mr. Kamal R. Bulchandani, Mrs. Kavita K. Bulchandani, and Ms. Loshika K. Bulchandani. The claimants had sought Rs. 19.29 crore (approximately Rs. 19.3 crore) in indemnity for alleged losses arising from misutilisation of clients' securities by Anugrah Stock & Broking Private Limited. The claimants first approached Bombay High Court under Section 11 of the Arbitration Act, which directed constitution of the arbitral tribunal on January 20, 2026. The tribunal was constituted on February 24, 2026. However, on March 23, 2026, the claimants requested unconditional withdrawal of the claim. The Arbitral Tribunal allowed this withdrawal via order dated April 6, 2026, and the matter stands disposed of. CDSL did not pay any penalty or settlement amount.
This is a positive development for CDSL as the Rs. 19.3 crore claim has been fully withdrawn with no financial liability on the company. The resolution removes legal uncertainty and potential financial risk for the depository.
