CARE Ratings has revised Centum Electronics' credit outlook from 'Stable' to 'Positive' on its long-term bank facilities of Rs. 433.13 crore, while reaffirming the CARE BBB rating and short-term CARE A3+ rating. The upgrade reflects expected improvement in operating profitability driven by a growing order book in the Strategic Electronic Business Unit (SEBU), which caters to India's space and defence sector. The company raised Rs. 210 crore through a QIP in March 2025, which materially improved its capital structure with the TOL/TNW ratio improving from 6.99x to 2.57x. Consolidated order book stood at Rs. 1,736 crore as of March 31, 2025, and PBILDT margins improved from 8.06% to 8.43% in FY25. Concerns remain around working capital intensity and losses at the French subsidiary Centum T&S.
Positive for shareholders — a 'Positive' outlook signals possible further rating upgrade, indicating improved financial health and reduced credit risk. This may lower borrowing costs and boost investor confidence in the stock.
