Chembond Material Technologies reported Q1 FY26 consolidated revenue of Rs. 5,767.50 lakhs, up about 24.6% from Rs. 4,626.79 lakhs in Q1 FY25 (restated). Despite strong top-line growth, consolidated profit after tax actually fell roughly 14.7% to Rs. 399.02 lakhs (from Rs. 467.74 lakhs), with EPS at Rs. 2.97 vs Rs. 3.48. On a standalone basis, revenue grew around 23.7% to Rs. 4,892.03 lakhs but PAT dropped sharply by about 42.6% to Rs. 316.95 lakhs, hit by higher employee and other operating expenses. The Biosciences (Animal Health) segment turned profitable at the PBIT level, while the larger Specialty Chemicals segment's PBIT fell to Rs. 189.29 lakhs from Rs. 355.77 lakhs. The board also noted the completion of the demerger and listing of Chembond Chemicals Limited. Prior period figures have been restated to reflect the NCLT-approved composite scheme of arrangement.
Top-line growth is healthy, but the disconnect between rising revenue and falling profits — especially on a standalone basis — is a red flag on margins and cost control. Investors should watch for the Biosciences turnaround to sustain and Specialty Chemicals margins to recover before turning constructive.
