On the reaction day the stock moved 3.9 pts more than Nifty 100 and 2.9 pts more than its Oil Gas & Consumable Fuels peers, over the same two closes: a difference in percentage points, not a measure of what the filing did.
Minute windows have no benchmark: there is no intraday index history to compare against.
Coal India has filed the draft red herring prospectus for an IPO of its wholly owned subsidiary Mahanadi Coalfields Limited. The proposed IPO is entirely an Offer for Sale of up to about 66.18 crore equity shares of face value Rs 2 each, held by Coal India. No fresh equity will be issued by MCL. The DRHP was filed with SEBI, BSE and NSE on September 1, 2026, and remains subject to applicable approvals and market conditions.
Positive for value unlocking. CIL shareholders may benefit if MCL lists at a premium, though subject to approvals and market conditions.
