On the reaction day the stock moved in line with Nifty 100 and 1.2 pts more than its Oil Gas & Consumable Fuels peers, over the same two closes: a difference in percentage points, not a measure of what the filing did.

Bharat Coking Coal (BCCL), a Coal India subsidiary, completed its IPO and listed on BSE and NSE on January 19, 2026. 46.57 crore equity shares were offered for sale by Coal India at rupees 23 per share, collecting about Rs 1,071 crore. Coal India's stake in BCCL fell from 100% to 90%, so BCCL is no longer wholly-owned but continues to remain a subsidiary of Coal India.
Coal India monetises part of its BCCL stake while keeping 90% control. BCCL now separately listed, creating an independent valuation benchmark for retail investors.
