Coffee Day Enterprises reported consolidated revenue of Rs. 1,116 Crs (up 4% YoY) and net profit of Rs. 203 Crs vs a loss of Rs. 58 Crs in FY25. The sharp turnaround is driven primarily by exceptional gains — Rs. 185.5 Crs on loan settlement, Rs. 354.29 Crs on Axis Bank debt settlement, Rs. 164 Crs from sale of invoked CDGL shares, plus Labour Code provisioning impact. EBITDA with one-time items surged 88% to Rs. 420 Crs. The auditors issued a disclaimer of opinion on both standalone and consolidated results for the seventh consecutive year. Key concerns include unrecoverable dues from group companies (Rs. 1,444.49 Crs standalone; Rs. 3,357.13 Crs consolidated group level from MACEL), debt covenant breaches and interest/principal repayment defaults, and inability to confirm balances from two lenders (Rs. 76.98 Crs). The company is under an ongoing NCLT/CIRP process that was later stayed by NCLAT. Despite a positive net worth of Rs. 17,918 Crs, auditors raised material uncertainty over the going concern assumption.
While the company returned to profitability on a consolidated basis due to one-time debt settlement gains, the repeated disclaimer of opinion and unresolved going concern issues signal high financial risk. The massive unrecovered dues from MACEL and group companies, combined with ongoing CIRP proceedings, make this stock high-risk for investors.
