Som Datt Finance Corporation Ltd, an NBFC, reported audited FY25 results showing a swing from profit to loss. Net loss for the year stood at about Rs. 3.78 crore, versus a profit of Rs. 2.74 crore in FY24. Total revenue from operations was Rs. 15.03 crore in FY25 versus a loss of Rs. 3.73 crore in FY24, driven mainly by fair value changes on equity investments (a gain of Rs. 14.63 crore in FY25 versus a Rs. 3.73 crore loss in FY24). Underlying NBFC interest income was just Rs. 1.90 lakh for the full year. Operating cash flow stayed negative at Rs. (1.72) crore. The Board also cleared a Rights Issue of about 70 lakh shares at Rs. 70 each (~Rs. 49 crore), doubling of authorised capital to Rs. 50 crore, and an increase in borrowing powers up to Rs. 500 crore. New internal and secretarial auditors were also appointed.
The shift to a net loss and persistent negative operating cash flow may worry shareholders, especially as core NBFC earnings remain negligible. The Rights Issue at Rs. 70 a share (7x face value) signals the company needs fresh capital, which may dilute existing holders but also bolster the balance sheet if fully subscribed.
