Cummins India reported strong Q1 FY26 results with sales of INR2,859 crores, up 26% year-on-year and 18% sequentially. Domestic sales grew 25% to INR2,336 crores, while exports rose 34% to INR523 crores. Profit before tax (after exceptional items) jumped 40% YoY to INR770 crores. Powergen domestic sales surged 31% YoY to INR1,056 crores on broad-based growth across quick commerce, mission-critical, and data center segments, with management noting volumes have returned to pre-CPCB IV+ (CPCB II-era) levels. The company has launched a new Battery Energy Storage Solution (BESS) for C&I customers and is exploring the UK market following the India-UK FTA. Management guided to double-digit growth for full-year FY26 while remaining cautiously optimistic on exports given geopolitical uncertainties. Capacity utilization stands at 65-70% with continued capex investment planned.
Strong broad-based growth across segments and recovery in exports should support positive investor sentiment. The guidance for double-digit FY26 growth, sustained margins, and new growth avenues in BESS and data centers are positives, though management's caution on global trade uncertainties and competitive intensity may temper near-term expectations.
