The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Bengaluru Bench has admitted an interlocutory application and ordered the commencement of the liquidation process for Infotech HAL Limited, a 50:50 joint venture between Cyient Limited and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). The order was passed under Sections 33(2) and 34(1) of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016, and was received by Cyient on 3 March 2026. Mr. Vasudevan Gopu has been appointed as the Liquidator. This follows prior disclosures made by Cyient on 20 March 2024 and 28 August 2025 about the JV's troubles.
The liquidation of the JV is negative for Cyient as its investment in Infotech HAL may be fully written off, with little chance of recovery. However, since prior disclosures had already flagged the JV's difficulties, this is unlikely to be a major new shock to the stock, though it removes any residual optionality of a turnaround.
