The Central Government amended the MMDR Act 1957 via Amendment Act 2026, restricting states from imposing taxes, cess and levies on mineral rights. Dalmia Bharat was paying Mineral Bearing Land Tax in Tamil Nadu (Rs.160 per ton), Assam (Rs.10 per ton) and Mineral Cess in Meghalaya (Rs.60 per ton) on limestone. It paid Rs.127 Cr in FY26 and Rs.38 Cr so far in FY27. From August 22, 2026, the company and subsidiaries are no longer required to pay these. Past amounts paid will not be refunded.
Positive: Dalmia Bharat saves on mineral taxes and cess going forward, boosting margins. Already paid amounts will not be refunded.
