Mahadhan AgriTech, wholly owned subsidiary of Deepak Fertilizers, won income tax appeals for Assessment Years 2016-17 to 2018-19. The Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), Mumbai allowed the appeals and dropped a penalty of Rs 382.81 Crores. Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner had passed penalty orders of Rs 252.53 Cr and Rs 226.32 Cr against the subsidiary. Appeal for AY 2015-16 worth Rs 96.03 Crores is still pending disposal.
Positive development. Large tax penalty on subsidiary quashed, reducing potential financial liability. Stock may react positively.
