Diana Tea Company reported a strong turnaround in Q1 FY26 with revenue from operations rising about 36% year-on-year to ₹2,002.02 lakhs from ₹1,475.37 lakhs. The company swung to a net profit of ₹165.96 lakhs compared to a loss of ₹110.99 lakhs in the same quarter last year, translating to basic EPS of ₹1.11 vs ₹(0.74). Profit before tax of ₹165.96 lakhs was a significant improvement from the ₹(915.62) lakhs loss reported in the preceding Q4 FY25. The auditor issued an unmodified limited review report but drew attention to the company not making full provision for gratuity liability as per actuarial valuation under Ind AS 19. The board also approved re-appointment of Managing Director Sandeep Singhania for five years and Independent Director Kiran Nanoo Desai for a second term of five years.
Sharp recovery in both revenue and profitability is positive for shareholders, though the auditor's note on incomplete gratuity provisioning is a minor governance flag. Seasonal nature of tea business means this quarter's strong performance should not be taken as a full-year indicator.
