BSE had imposed a fine of Rs. 5,42,800 (including GST) on POWERGRID for not submitting information about interest payment on its 7.74% Bond LXI Issue under SEBI's Listing Regulations. POWERGRID had requested BSE to waive the fine, arguing that the actual interest payment of Rs. 232.20 crore was made on time (12.12.2024) and the details were emailed to BSE on the same day. On 9 June 2025, BSE turned down the waiver request. The POWERGRID Board met on 10 June 2025 and decided to pursue the matter further with BSE. The fine amount is small compared to POWERGRID's overall size and is purely a procedural/technical non-compliance issue.
Minimal financial impact — the fine of Rs. 5.42 lakh is negligible for a company of POWERGRID's scale. The matter is essentially a procedural dispute over timely disclosure reporting, not a substantive compliance failure. Shareholders are unlikely to see any meaningful stock price impact.
