DOMS Industries informed the exchanges that its appeal against a GST demand has been allowed. In January 2025, the Addl. Commissioner of Central GST & Central Excise had passed an Order in Original alleging misclassification of certain goods, demanding GST of ₹5.36 crore along with an equal penalty of ₹5.36 crore and applicable interest. The Commissioner of CGST & Central Excise (Appeals), Surat has now set aside the original order in its entirety. The order in appeal was issued on September 19, 2025, and received by the company on September 22, 2025. The total demand, penalty, and interest of approximately ₹10.72 crore (plus interest) now stand fully dropped.
This is a positive development for shareholders — a potential tax liability of over ₹10 crore (plus interest) has been eliminated, with no financial or operational impact on the company. The favorable ruling removes a key overhang and underscores the merits of the company's position on the GST classification issue.
