Eastcoast Steel Limited reported net profit of Rs 57.67 lakhs for FY26, turning around from a loss of Rs 13.32 lakhs in FY25. Revenue from operations grew 8.4% to Rs 1,681.87 lakhs from Rs 1,551.62 lakhs. Other income doubled to Rs 174.62 lakhs from Rs 67.52 lakhs. Basic EPS improved to Rs 1.07 from negative Rs 0.28. The company operates only in trading (iron & steel products) after its manufacturing plant was closed in 1995 and land disposed in 2020. Statutory auditors gave an unmodified (clean) opinion. The company has ongoing NCLT/NCLAT proceedings related to petitions by M/s M.B. Gupta HUF and Mr. Suresh Kumar Jalan. Cash flow from operations was negative at Rs 1,464.09 lakhs due to large working capital changes.
The company returned to profitability after two consecutive years of losses, a positive sign. However, the significant negative operating cash flow of Rs 1,464.09 lakhs is a concern despite the profit. The ongoing legal proceedings at NCLT/NCLAT add regulatory uncertainty.
