Elecon Engineering reported its Q1FY26 (quarter ended June 30, 2025) results with consolidated revenue of Rs 491 crores, up 25% year-on-year from Rs 392 crores in Q1FY25. Consolidated EBITDA grew 41% YoY to Rs 130 crores with margin at 26.6%, while reported PAT surged 139% YoY to Rs 175 crores. However, a large share of the profit was non-recurring: Rs 35 crores came from an arbitration claim settlement in the MHE division, and Rs 80 crores (net of tax) was an exceptional gain from reclassifying its investment in Eimco Elecon (India) Ltd. as a financial asset after it ceased to be an associate. The Gear division posted 6.1% revenue growth but EBIT margin slipped to 18.4% from 23.7%, hit by higher employee costs and accelerated depreciation. On governance, Board committees were reconstituted, and Dr. Sonal Ambani's tenure as Independent Woman Director ends on August 13, 2025.
Headline earnings look strong, but investors should note that most of the PAT jump comes from one-time gains; underlying operational growth is more modest. The strong MHE performance (aided by arbitration income) and healthy order enquiry levels are positive, while Gear margin pressure is a watch point.
