On the reaction day the stock moved 0.9 pts more than Nifty Smallcap 250 and 1.7 pts more than its Personal Care peers, over the same two closes: a difference in percentage points, not a measure of what the filing did.

Emami's board approved a buyback of equity shares worth up to Rs 282 crore at a maximum price of Rs 475 per share, to be done through the open market. This translates to about 59.37 lakh shares, or 1.36 percent of paid-up capital. At least 75 percent of the amount (Rs 211.5 crore) will be used. Promoters and promoter group members are excluded, so only public shareholders will benefit.
Open market buyback may support the share price; positive for public shareholders as promoters are excluded and only they can tender shares.
