Energy Infrastructure Trust has disclosed a tariff order from the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) for its SPV, Pipeline Infrastructure Limited (PIL), which operates the East West Natural Gas Pipeline. The revised levelized tariff has been set at Rs. 74.67/MMBTU, effective January 1, 2026, up from the existing Rs. 71.66/MMBTU — an increase of about 4.2%. PIL had originally proposed a much higher tariff of Rs. 98.34/MMBTU in its March 2025 filing, so the approved tariff is significantly lower than requested. The order follows a public consultation process and is interim in nature, as the capacity determination matter (85 MMSCMD vs. higher) remains pending before the Supreme Court. The disclosure is being made under Regulation 26(9) of the SEBI InvIT Regulations, 2014.
A modest tariff hike of ~4.2% from Rs. 71.66 to Rs. 74.67/MMBTU will provide some revenue uplift for the Trust's SPV from January 2026, which is mildly positive. However, the approved tariff is well below PIL's ask of Rs. 98.34/MMBTU, suggesting limited upside for unit holders in the near term. Continued uncertainty persists pending the Supreme Court ruling on the capacity dispute.
