Federal Bank received its first-ever international issuer credit rating from S&P Global Ratings - BBB- long-term and A-3 short-term with Stable outlook. This is investment-grade status, making the bank eligible for global institutional capital, international bond markets, and cross-border funding. S&P cited strong capitalization supported by a Blackstone preferential issue of about Rs 62 billion, stable asset quality, retail deposit-led funding, and improving profitability. A major milestone in the bank's 95-year history.
Positive for shareholders. Investment-grade rating validates credit strength, widens investor base, and helps the bank raise cheaper overseas funding.
