S&P Global assigned Federal Bank its first international credit rating: BBB-/A-3 with stable outlook, placing it at the threshold of investment grade. This opens access to global institutional investors, foreign bond markets, and cross-border funding. S&P cited strong capital (RAC ratio above 10%), stable asset quality, and a granular retail deposit base. Blackstone is buying a 9.99% stake for about INR 6,200 crore to support growth.
Positive for shareholders. Investment-grade rating may attract global funds, lift valuations, and lower offshore borrowing costs.
