GAIL (India) Limited reported audited standalone FY2026 results with Revenue from Operations of Rs. 1,38,696.52 crore, nearly flat versus FY2025's Rs. 1,37,287.56 crore. However, Net Profit After Tax declined significantly to Rs. 6,968.30 crore from Rs. 11,312.32 crore in FY2025, a drop of approximately 38%. EPS fell to Rs. 10.60 from Rs. 17.20. The Board recommended a Final Dividend of Rs. 0.50 per share (5%), in addition to the Rs. 5.00 interim dividend already paid. Auditors issued unmodified opinion. The company faces contingent liability of Rs. 3,768 crore from a CESTAT order on naphtha classification (contested at Supreme Court) and is impacted by geopolitical disruptions in West Asia affecting LNG supplies. The company also lacks the required number of Independent Directors since March 2026.
The sharp 38% decline in net profit despite stable revenues signals significant margin compression and operational challenges. While the dividend recommendation provides some shareholder reward, the earnings decline may weigh on the stock price near-term.
