Gala Precision Engineering reported Q1 FY26 results with revenue from operations rising about 18.6% year-on-year to Rs 63.08 crores from Rs 53.17 crores. Standalone profit after tax grew only about 3.6% to Rs 6.58 crores, while profit before tax inched down to Rs 8.24 crores from Rs 8.32 crores. Total expenses surged 23.6% to Rs 56.22 crores, driven by a 44% jump in raw material costs and a 57.6% rise in other expenses, which include a Rs 1.94 crore foreign exchange loss on EURO/USD forward contracts. Earnings per share fell to Rs 5.18 from Rs 6.28, mainly due to share dilution following the September 2024 IPO. Of the Rs 121.24 crore net IPO proceeds, Rs 67.19 crores have been deployed and Rs 54.05 crores remain parked in fixed deposits. Consolidated profit after tax stood at Rs 6.54 crores versus Rs 6.30 crores in the year-ago quarter.
Top-line growth is healthy, but profitability is under pressure as cost of materials and forex losses have compressed operating margins, and the EPS has declined on a post-IPO share base. Investors should watch whether margin pressures ease in coming quarters and how the remaining IPO funds are deployed for capacity expansion.
