GIC Re reported its Q1 FY26 results (quarter ended June 30, 2025) on August 7, 2025. Standalone profit after tax jumped about 69% year-on-year to Rs 1,75,223 lakhs from Rs 1,03,636 lakhs, while consolidated PAT surged roughly 81% to Rs 2,53,059 lakhs. Standalone EPS rose to Rs 9.99 from Rs 5.91, and consolidated EPS rose to Rs 14.42 from Rs 7.98. Net premium earned grew about 9.4% to Rs 11,08,821 lakhs, investment income rose nearly 18% to Rs 2,26,095 lakhs, and operating profit more than doubled to Rs 1,35,319 lakhs. Key underwriting metrics improved — combined ratio fell to 106.94% from 109.60%, adjusted combined ratio to 87.51% from 92.97%, and solvency ratio strengthened to 3.85 from 3.36. The board also appointed M/s Ragini Choksi & Co. as Secretarial Auditors for five years from FY26. The joint statutory auditors for this quarter are SHBA & Co LLP and SARA & Associates (different from the prior period's auditors KASG & Co. and Mehra Goel & Co.).
Strong double-digit profit growth, improved combined ratio, higher solvency, and better investment yield signal a healthier underwriting and investment performance — positive for shareholders, though combined ratio still above 100% shows underwriting losses persist. The change of joint statutory auditors between comparative and current quarter is a notable governance point investors should monitor.
