Government of India, the promoter of GIC Re, is exercising the oversubscription option in its ongoing Offer for Sale (OFS). The base offer of 3.51 crore shares (2% of paid-up capital) will increase by an additional 5.26 crore shares (3%), taking the total to 8.77 crore shares (5% of capital). The OFS is conducted on BSE/NSE on June 16, 2026 for non-retail investors and June 17, 2026 for retail investors, employees, and carry-forward bids. 10% of the offer is reserved for retail on T+1 day, with up to 20,000 shares earmarked for eligible employees.
Extra 3% equity supply from government divestment may pressure the stock short-term; exercising the oversubscription option signals strong investor demand for GIC Re.
