Grasim Industries will invest up to ₹2,880 crore in Aditya Birla Capital (ABCL), its subsidiary, through a preferential share issuance. ABCL's total equity raise is ₹4,000 crore, with the remaining ₹1,120 crore coming from Suryaja Investment (₹200 crore) and International Finance Corporation (₹920 crore). The shares will be issued at ₹356.02 per equity share. Following this investment, Grasim's stake in ABCL will increase from 52.27% to 53.08%. The capital will be used to strengthen ABCL's capital base and fund growth including its lending business and general corporate purposes.
This investment reinforces Grasim's commitment to its financial services subsidiary and will slightly increase its controlling stake. The involvement of IFC, a World Bank Group entity, signals strong institutional confidence in ABCL's growth prospects and aligns with financial inclusion goals.
